Promoting the Child’s Voice Course

Understanding childs voice

With our Promoting the Child’s Voice Course

Course objective:

To equip the practitioner to understanding childs voice. A range of practical approaches to ensure they are listening and responding to the voice of the child.

The course asks:

  • How actively do you listen to the child?
  • How effectively do you consult with a child with SEND/VI about their support?
  • To what extent are the child’s views acted upon?
  • Are you able to help a child express his or her needs to help you target your approach?

This course offers practical strategies and resources to support the practitioner to listen to and act upon the voice of the child. Resources used include the ‘Easy-Easier approach,’ Positive Steps and ‘Who’s in the Driving Seat?’ Together these approaches will enable the practitioner to self reflect upon their role in maximising independence, as well as understanding how to consult with the child and respond in a meaningful way.

The more accurate and child focussed the interventions, the better the outcomes. This hands-on course allows the parents/carers and professionals to work together to plan the best strategies to enable the child to reach their outcomes, including them in the reviewing process as they measure their steps to success.

Practitioners will leave with a comprehensive resource pack both in hardcopy and on CD
